Skit on Human Trafficking

On the world day against trafficking in persons, the students of St. Joseph’s College aimed to create awareness about human trafficking as an effort to defeat this atrocious social problem. The skit was performed in cafeteria of the Magis block of St. Joseph’s College. The NCC members were also a part in spreading the awareness of human trafficking by holding placards that spoke against human trafficking. The 1styear BSW and NCC trainees had a session with the Director and Founder of Talaash Association, Mrs. Seema Diwan. She highlighted and stressed on the fact that human trafficking is a serious crime that still exists and cruelty does not only happen to humans, but to animals as well. This she articulated with the help of videos and some real life stories that she has come across. Mrs. Diwan also addressed the causes of human trafficking, the process of human trafficking and the components of it and pointed out an important fact i.e., demand of the customers is an encouragement for this practice. She stated that our country needed a system that teaches humanity, that strengthens a girl to walk even during the night, where authorities are there to help the people and law and order which will take necessary and appropriate action against any form violence This is where as social workers or as the youth, one could take a big step in putting an end to human trafficking, she stated.
