Skit on Open Defecation and Baseline Survey of Village

The students of 1st year, MSW, Department of Social Work, St. Joseph’s College (Autonomous), Bengaluru, were placed in three different villages in Raichur district, as part of outreach from the 16th to the 19th of January, 2020.  One such village was Ramathnal. During this time, the students in this village conducted a baseline survey of the issues faced by the people residing in the village. A total of 129 households were surveyed and a 28-page report including the major findings and suggestions were sent to the concerned persons so that a positive change could be brought about in the lives of the people there. The students also identified the issue of open defecation in the village and conducted a skit to highlight the necessity of using toilets instead of opting for open defecation. The video was also uploaded to YouTube for wider circulation and awareness on this issue.
