Psychopathology Virtual Seminar

 

In collaboration with the University of Carolina Wilmington (UNCW), the School of Social Work, St Joseph's College, Bangalore organized a virtual Psychopathology seminar for the Medical and Psychiatry students. There were 10 students each from SJC and UNCW.  Students were divided into 10 groups and each group was given a specific psychiatric diagnosis to discuss. The two students working on the same topic were named ‘Buddies’. The buddies were asked get to know the differences in the psychiatric history, diagnostic criteria, cultural factors and treatment both in India and the US with regard to their diagnosis.  During the final session, each group was asked to present their topics. After the presentation the students were given an opportunity to share their feedback with regard to the seminar. On the whole the students had a very enriching experience getting to know each other and sharing their views and experiences on several aspects of psychiatry both in India and in the US.
