Crystal Jubilee Celebration: 15 Years of Social Work Education, Practice, and Research

 

The school of social work held a two-day virtual gathering as part of the crystal jubilee celebration, on the 5th- 6th of August, 2021. The convenors for the event were Prof. Kiran Jeevan and Prof. Latha Paul from the school of social work. The two-day event was conducted via Zoom. On the first day (5th August, 2021), there was a special talk by Dr. Rita Noronha, Director, Centre for Development Studies and Education. A video compilation of the alumni of the school was presented in which the alumni expressed their gratitude towards the school, for helping them evolve into better and more successful individuals. The bi-annual newsletter of the school of social work- ‘The Reach Out’, was also released as part of the event. On the second day (6th August, 2021), the annual social justice lecture was held and Rev. Dr. Valson Thampu, Theologian and former Principal, St. Stephan’s College, Delhi and Ms. Teesta Setalvad, Indian Journalist and Civil Rights Activist, were invited to talk. There was also a short cultural programme conducted for the alumni of the school of social work. The event highlighted the humble beginnings of the school and its evolution from a department to one of the most well-known schools of social work in the country.
